Hazel Bigg was passing the bus and was curious about what was going on. It just so happened that she was a nurse (and later a ward Sister) at Great Ormond Street Hospital. She also worked at the The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Hackney Road.
In the interviews attached, she describes a case of lead poisoning that she remembers from the The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Hackney Road in the late 1960s. The 2 year old child, a South Asian girl, had been sucking on the red paint on her cot and had contracted lead poisoning. She was fitting when she was admitted to the hospital.
Hazel also recalls 'Prof Moncrieff' who she described as charming and great with the kids.
In the second interview Hazel recalls her work as Sister in the neurological ward at Great Ormond Street, under Professor Kenneth Till.
Editor's Note: Hazel Bigg came back to the Object Retrieval bus a day or so later and brought with her various items from her personal archive pertaining to Great Ormond Street Hospital. These included a handbook for nurses, Co-edited by Alan Moncrieff, focusing on the care of sick children.
