Hit by a bus - the danger of public transport

Poisonous car - dangerous car - dangerous vehicles.

I got hit by a bus around March 2009. I was going from London (Euston square tube) to Uxbridge via Metropolitan line. I was visiting my parents, at their work (Brunel university). I got off at Uxbridge station and was crossing the road to get to the bus stop so I could get the bus from Uxbridge town station to the university.

I think I was on my mobile phone to someone when it happened. I wasn't looking in front of me, because I was just really really tired. It was the end of a hard university week and I was just thinking about seeing my parents, getting in my bed, having a home-cooked meal, having a really long bath. Anything but the bus.

I think what I actually got hit by was the bus side. Or maybe the mirror. The bus hit the side of my head as it was passing. I screamed, I was startled more than scared. After the driver realised the bus had hit me, he stopped and asked whether anything was wrong, but I just waved him along.

I think I only realised how dangerous this was to me, a while after. After a couple of hours, perhaps, when I had talked to my parents.

Thankfully, I haven't experienced any long-term effects.
